C’ville Entremom of the Year Recognized

Local Panel Selects Recipient for Work/Life Balance and Community Involvement

Charlottesville, Va. (April 7, 2010) – As it approaches its one-year anniversary, C’ville Entremom, a local network of mom-owned businesses created by Angie Brement of Angie Brement Photography, recognizes the first C’ville Entremom of the Year: Dr. Dolly Garnecki, mom, blogger and owner of Spinal Health and Wellness. Dr. Dolly, as she’s known locally, was chosen by a panel of local businesswomen for her passion surrounding her work and her dedication to both her family and the Charlottesville community.

Dr. Dolly works with patients – from pregnant women to newborns to mature adults – to help them achieve optimal health through natural chiropractic care and therapies. She is among an elite group of chiropractors (2%) capable of reducing scoliosis curvature without the use of surgery or bracing. As an active member of the Virginia Chiropractic Association, Dr. Dolly is spear-heading a chiropractic physician-led program to provide scoliosis screenings to 5^th-8^th grade students in Virginia, which began with a pilot program in Charlottesville. She offers complimentary educational classes for new parents at venues such as Whole Foods, ACAC’s Pre-Natal Seminars and Rebecca’s Natural Food. She is mom to her two-year-old son, who can often be seen in her office, and founder and editor of the popular natural parenting and health blog, Traveling with Baby.

“Dr. Dolly embodies everything that an entremom stands for,” said Brement. “Her commitment to helping others extends beyond her family into the community and, as with her scoliosis program, even state-wide. She leads by example and is an inspiration for entremoms and working moms in general.”

C’ville Entremom of the Year was created by Brement to recognize local moms who: have achieved that delicate balance between raising a family and owning a business; have a passion for what they do; and give back to the community. This year’s recipient was selected by a panel of Charlottesville businesswomen, including:

According to a recent survey on Albemarle Family Magazine’s Annual Family Favorites, Spinal Health & Wellness tied for third (3rd) place as favorite Chiropractic Office.  Check out the December 2009 issue for details.

Dr. Dolly’s popular parenting and health blog, Traveling with Baby, was featured in the January 2010 issue of Albemarle Family Magazine on page 36.  You can read the full issue online.

Dr. Dolly was asked by the Editor of Forward/Adelante Magazine to begin a regular health column about alternative health.

Her article “Cover up or solve the case” provided an introduction to business leaders on why they should consider targeting the cause of a health problem instead of covering it up with a bandage-fix using a business metaphor.  The article was published in the December 2009 issue of Forward/Adelante, and the full article is available online.

Dr. Dolly was interviewed for the November edition of C-Ville’s Abode magazine with a follow up post by Teri Kent of Better World Betty for green baby practices.

Dr. Dolly and Spinal Health & Wellness were featured on Buy Local! Charlottesville blog.
